Starting on the Northern Border with Spain in the town of Melgaco on the River Minho on May 5th we aim to reach the southern tip of Portugal on May 11th. Gybe Gilbert, Jeroen Markies, Peter Cross, Renny Leach, Alastair Pinkney, Nigel Foster and Mark Sewell make up the team. So that's 800km (500 miles) and 6,500m (21,000 ft) to climb in 7 days, cycling 112km (70 miles/day). Should be fun!

The UK-based Portu-boys (less Jeroen and Nigel but including Caco and Jason) followed Peter's very own version of the Hell of Ashdown this morning on the bikes all carrying 10kg weight for 25 miles including 2,100 ft of climbing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot tougher than I did. Well done guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the updates Mark - it sounds like you'll have as many mountains to climb as Palace do over the next few days!
